Park @ 336 Funding Strategy – in today’s paper the Banner has an article covering the park. Kelly Clark is now chairing the fundraising campaign for Park @336. SPARC is the new packaging representing a long time initiative to create and unite Bennington’s green spaces. The basic concept is to position parks or green space throughout Downtown and Bennington and to encapsulate the bigger picture of green spaces. SPARC stands for spaces, parks, art, recreation, community. Park @336 has been a leading inspiration for the fruition of this initiative. This is a strategic long-term collaboration between BBC Design committee, Centerline Architects, and the Chamber. The BBC can now focus on the park systems and the potential that it represents to Downtown. Today there will be 500 promotional flyers to distribute throughout the community and also a two minute video available for use as promotion. The fundraising campaign will incorporate the efforts of the entire community including individuals to corporations. Action/Resolution – keep this as part of our daily commentary, telling people the story of the park. If anyone has fundraising ideas please contact John. Present SPARC, parks presented as a unit, to the Select Board.
- BBC Board Elections –Some members will soon be up for reelection, and all are interested in remaining on the Board for another term. A motion to elect Kelly Clark to be on the BBC Board was made by Edie Sawitsky, seconded by Michael Keane to fill a portion of a term of a vacant seat. Motion carried unanimously. Action/Resolution - John Shannahan will ask Kelly Clark to become a BBC board member, effective immediately. The Organization committee will determine absentee board members status.
- Downtown Area Wide Plan – the meeting informed the public of analysis results of the Greenberg property. Not all BBC board members have seen the public presentation. The BBC can be a catalyst moving forward on the property. Action/Resolution - approach Bill Colvin about presenting the BBC board with its own viewing. BBC Board will discuss appropriate involvement.
